Overview

Vektron is a micro manufacturing company, five employees in total. Our Core business is manufacturing single phase solid state motor relays.

Background

Founded in 1992, the company began manufacturing single phase motor starting relays for single phase induction motors. The Motor relays on the market at the time were not very reliable, the Electric motor repair industry were seeking a robust easy to use motor starting relay. This created an opportunity for the VK1 electro mechanical relay to enter the market in South Africa. The VK1 relay was suitable for single phase motors up to 1.5 Kw. The need arose for the VK2 motor relay which was developed soon after the VK1 relay, with a power rating of 0.1Kw up to 2.5 Kw. The two models are a success locally and are still widely used in the farming and Poultry Industries.

In 2001 the VK 4 relay was developed. Extreme tests were carried out by the engineers at the Femco Motor Manufacturing laboratory. The relay was declared suitable for inclusion on the complete range of Femco single phase motors for local and export markets.

A terminal version of the VK4 was introduced, the main aim being to reduce the amount of wiring and connections around the motor, relay, and capacitors. Presently Vektron is the leading manufacturer of electronic motor relays in Africa.
